A starter on last year's squad, Jonathan was a major contributor this season. He is a strong rebounder and defender. Jonathan was named to the 1999-2000 All County Second Team for Palm Beach County Small Schools by the Palm Beach Post.
Although he missed all but the first few seconds of the Final Four Semi-Final Game, Jonathan came back in the Championship Game against Arlington Country Day to combine with Jon Allen, Kyle Taylor and the rest of the players to shut down the biggest front line Benjamin faced all year, score ten points and earn that gold medal that was hung around his neck after the game. Honored as Benjamin's first Final Four Purple Heart winner, Jonathan's heart and energy will be sorely missed.
Word is that Jonathan has decided to attend Hobart College in upstate New York this fall where we expect he will be a major contributor to their continuing success. The Statesmen were last year's Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association champions and made it to the second round of the NCAA Division III tournament. Shap will be going from Florida Class 2A Coach of the Year Ron Johnson to UCAA/BCANYDIII Coach of the Year, Rich Roche. Stay tough, Shap!
